The Architecture of Constitutional Deliberation

On why three spectrums are necessary, and why none of them may stand alone. A thesis, with commentary.

Stuart Adelaide 1 min read

Sovereignty, properly understood, is not an absence but a structure. The person whose intelligence serves them must reserve the right to overrule the intelligence; the intelligence must reserve the right to refuse the person, when the refusal is constitutionally grounded. This is the first axiom.

A single advisor, however well-calibrated, is a monarch. A council is a deliberation. We build the council first.

The three spectrums

Vision asks what ought to be. Integrity asks whether it may. Advocate asks how it is communicated. No decision that matters passes any one of these alone; the three together compose the sovereign act. Their order is not fixed — but their presence is.

No decision that matters passes any one of these alone.

Why numbering

Each constitutional section is numbered not for pedantry but for citation. A Review that cannot be cited is a Review that cannot be corrected.

V-AX-01 · Value — the sovereign person is primary
I-AX-01 · Harm — non-maleficence precedes utility
H-AX-01 · Primacy — the individual prevails over aggregate
